Mayor Rawlings-Blake to Announce Local Hiring Impact of Horseshoe Baltimore Casino

City's first gaming facility expected to employ a large percentage of Baltimore residents

WHAT:

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will announce the number of Baltimore City residents to be employed by the City's first gaming facility—Horseshoe Baltimore—in advance of the casino's grand opening tomorrow.

In 2013, the mayor announced that CBAC Gaming, LLC— owner and operator of Horseshoe Baltimore—would provide funding for a recruitment coordinator to help identify qualified city residents to apply for the downtown gaming facility's approximately 2,000 positions.

The recruitment coordinator, employed with the Mayor's Office of Employment Development, collaborated with workforce partners to recruit and prepare city residents for these job opportunities. In addition to a number of career fairs and workshops, a total of 58 two-day Legendary Academy workshops were conducted. Local job seekers who completed the academy earned special hiring consideration.

TOMORROW, Tuesday, August 26, 3:30 pm
