 Mayor Rawlings-Blake and Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce Acknowledge Business for Successful Workforce Initiatives 
Businesses selected by Baltimore Workforce Investment Board honored at Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce Event

Baltimore, Maryland (August 19, 2014) – Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was joined by Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce President Charles R. Owens, the Baltimore Workforce Investment Board’s Business Engagement Committee, and others to recognize local companies and organizations for instituting successful workforce initiatives. Each of the honored businesses received the BWIB Business Award for Workforce Development Excellence at the Chamber’s Breakfast with the Mayor event held at the Rawlings-Fulton Clubhouse.

"Building and sustaining successful Baltimore-based businesses is a critical component for the future growth of our City," said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. "The companies we recognize today have integrated workforce development strategies that help strengthen our local economy and bring vital opportunities to our residents, supporting our efforts to grow Baltimore by 10,000 families.”

For nearly 22 years the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce has served as an advocate for a pro-business agenda and provides its members with a platform to promote business interaction and provide information and resources.

Through action and influence, by ensuring that businesses secure talented workers and that citizens build productive careers, the Mayoral-appointed Baltimore Workforce Investment Board (BWIB) helps to create a public workforce engine driving Baltimore toward sustained prosperity.
