Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced the appointment of Jason Perkins-Cohen as director of the Mayor's Office of Employment Development (MOED)—the office responsible for workforce development initiatives responsive to the needs of Baltimore City employers and job seekers. Perkins-Cohen succeeds longtime MOED director Karen Sitnick, who retired last month.

Baltimore City Becomes The First City In Nation To Pilot A Transformative Jobs Platform That Expands Access And Opportunities For Job Seekers

City of Baltimore is officially launching an exciting pilot with the technology company, Apploi, by installing Apploi’s award-winning job kiosks in the Central Library/State Library Resource Center and at two Mayor’s Office of Employment Development-operated centers: Eastside One-Stop Career Center (open to general public and the Career Academy (open only to school’s students). The kiosks both expand access to jobs – reaching those without internet or computer access - and transform how jobseekers interact with companies – by enabling jobseekers to showcase their personalities and skills and respond to questions (including video and audio) set by employers.

City Residents Celebrate Successful Pathway Out of Poverty!

Today, the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) and Baltimore City Community College hosted theAccelerated Connections to Employment (ACE) graduation. The event celebrates the first graduation class of 43 participants who have gained technical training and are ready to begin to work as pharmacy technicians, multi-skilled medical technicians, medical billers and dietary aides.
